ABOUT

US

PHOENIX RISING is a new name for an established team of locally based youth workers and teachers’ who have been doing community and youth work in London Borough of Brent for over 20 years.

Although based in Brent and mainly operating within the NW10 postcode area, PHOENIX RISING works with all disadvantaged children and young people across Brent and neighbouring boroughs

Our Vision

a world where achievement and success is the norm for all children and young people.

Our Purpose

Our Purpose is to provide support, activities and opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people primarily living in the NW10 postcode (also across Brent, Barnet and the neighbour boroughs) which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals in an area where there is a growing youth population and there have been major cuts in youth service provision.

We aim to achieve this through:
The provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare and designed to improve their conditions of life.

Strategic Aims

In order to achieve our mission we:

INTRODUCE

new, innovative and high profile activities that give young people the opportunity to develop new skills and experiences.

CREATE

inclusive and positive opportunities for young people through which to engage, excel and achieve, challenging the negative perception of local children and young people generally held by the general public through regular community engagement activities and the promotion of community cohesion locally, nationally and globally

EMPOWER

young people who have vision and voice to effect change and motivate other young people through youth inspired and youth-led activities to recognise that ‘the sky is not the limit’ and that given the opportunity with support, they will achieve.

Safeguarding Statement

Phoenix Rising is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all stakeholders, staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare.

We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
